Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 October 2026
The short version: Quest Log doesn't have accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Your games and to-dos live on your devices and in your own iCloud account, where we can't see them. The only things that leave your device for our server are the text you type into game search and, if Quest Log crashes, a technical crash report with nothing personal in it.
Your games and to-dos
The games you add and the to-dos you write are stored on your device. If you're signed in to iCloud, they're also stored in your private iCloud database so they sync between your devices. Apple runs iCloud under its own privacy policy; this data is private to your Apple Account and the developer of Quest Log can't access it.
The Quest Log Home Screen widgets read the same data on your device.
Game search
When you search for a game (3 or more characters), the search text is sent to Quest Log's search server, api.questlog.rickknowler.com, which runs on Cloudflare. The server looks the text up in the IGDB games database (run by Twitch) and sends the results back.
- Results are cached by search text so repeated searches are fast. The cache holds the search text and the results, nothing about who searched.
- Your IP address is used briefly to limit how many searches can be made in a short time, to protect the service from abuse. It isn't stored by us.
- If a search fails, a log of the error (which can include the search text) is kept for up to 3 days so we can fix the problem.
Cover art
Game cover images are downloaded directly from IGDB's image servers (images.igdb.com), which see your IP address like any website you visit. Once a game's cover is downloaded, it's stored with the game on your device and in iCloud.
Crash reports
If Quest Log crashes or freezes, iOS gives the app a diagnostic report (through Apple's MetricKit) the next time you open it, and the app sends that report to Quest Log's server so the bug can be found and fixed.
- A report contains technical details only: the app version, iOS version, device model, the type of crash, and a list of the app's code that was running at the time.
- It doesn't contain your games, to-dos, search text, Apple Account, name or any other personal information, and it isn't linked to you.
- As with search, your IP address is used briefly to limit requests and isn't stored by us.
- Reports are used only to fix bugs and are kept for up to 30 days.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No analytics, advertising, tracking or third-party SDKs. Crash reports come from iOS itself and go only to Quest Log's server.
- We don't sell or share personal information.
Deleting your data
Removing a game in Quest Log deletes it and its to-dos from all your devices. To delete everything, delete the app and remove Quest Log's data from iCloud in Settings โ [your name] โ iCloud โ Storage.
Children
Quest Log doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date.
